Summer Film Festival ~ Fun in The Sun Haircare!

Did you know hair can get a sunburn much like the skin? Harsh Ultra Violet Rays radiate from the sun and degrade hair fabric causing loss of protein, moisture and hair color. This results in dry, dull, weak hair and faded hair color. Plus, UV Rays can give the scalp a sunburn just like the skin on body so it needs protection too.

Plus, if swimming is in the plans for this summer, beware of the harsh and damaging effects of salt water and chlorine. Salt water can dry the hair causing hair to feel rough, dry and tangled. Chlorine can coat and buildup on the hair causing color fadage and dry damaged hair. Plus chlorine contains a lot of copper which can cause the blonde hair to take on a greenish cast and makes brunettes brassy.

Buzzworthy @ Philip Pelusi ~ From Shutterbug to Renowned Photographer

It all started organically, Philip simply wanted to take photos of his and his Designer’s work.  The outcome was a burgeoning photographer, himself!  Shooting an amazing 50,000 photographic images starting in 1965 usually from 2 cameras, one color and the other black/white film.  Sometimes shooting 1,000 images in one day! 

He saw photography as a way to not only immortalize the work he and his team created, but also an avenue for more creative expression.  Hair, makeup, photo styling, the works!  These photos also served as an original source for TV, billboard, and print ads as well as artistic décor for the salons and The Philip Pelusi Center for Talent Development.  Most images were photographed in the Talent Center but also in NYC, Italy, Japan, and more!

This timeless Philip Pelusi design was inspired by 1920’s Film Noir but created for the modern sensibilities of the 1970’s.  This totally unique Philip Pelusi Volumetric creation has both geometric and architectural sensibilities.

The vibrant red color and sleek styling really makes the shape pop!  Along with the luminescent shine created by healthy hair products and stealth styling.  Seriously, one of the hottest looks of that decade.  Photographed, by Philip himself, both in color and black and white, it harkens back to that dark, moody yet glamourous film making.
